It's a Family Thing Fortier Family Cheer Center was founded in 2003 by sisters Deneka Deletetsky & Tiffany LeBrun. Their love for the sport of cheerleading began long ago, when each started cheering at the age of 5. Their mother, Susan Fortier, coached the girls throughout their youth, setting an astounding record of over 50 first place awards at the Rec, Middle School & Junior Varsity levels between the years 1983-2000. Learning only from the best, sisters Deneka & Tiffany began junior coaching, and both went on to become captains of their high school squads. Deneka & Tiffany became varsity coaches in 2003 for Lewiston High School and Poland Regional High School respectively. During their tenure, both acheived Regional and Maine State titles with their teams. Their love and passion for coaching was the driving force behind the decision to open a cheer gym where their coaching skills and philosophies would be used in the all-star world. FFCC had humble beginnings, starting the program off in a National Guard building with 1 Beginner tumble class and 1 Intermediate tumble class with a total of 22 students. Planet Cheer began with 2 teams, a total of 28 all-stars to start competing. Fortier Family Cheer Center now calls Central Maine Athletic Center home, complete with 42x42 spring floor, full-size cheer floor, Tumble Trac, pit,12 x 42 spring tumble strip, locker room complete with showers, plus a lounge and viewing area. Planet Cheer now has 6 teams for all ages, including an adult Open Team and "Dad" team. Planet Cheer has a successful record including over 40 first place titles, 15 Grand Championship titles, 9 National titles and the recipient of several specialty awards including "Top Gym", "Most Crowd Appeal," "Best Cheer", and the "Originality Award" for the most creative choreography.
