
Planet Cheer Registration We are still accepting members for our Youth squad, Senior squad and Open Team. Planet Cheer competes during the winter season in local, regional and national cheering competitions. Our focus at Planet Cheer is to pass on our knowledge and passion about the sport of cheerleading to our All-Star members. We build our All-Stars from the inside-out, focusing on technique, skill, hard work, dedication, integrity and sportsmanship. Being a part of Planet Cheer teaches our members how to become great athletes and teammates, while building character in the individual cheerleader. If you want a challenge and are a dedicated, committed cheerleader, Planet Cheer will provide the edge you are looking for. Planet Cheer is highly competitive with over 40 championship titles, 15 Grand Champion titles, 9 National titles and should only be considered if you are willing to put in the time and commitment it takes to be on an all-star team. Planet Cheer Teams *All ages refer to the cheerleader's age on 5/31/07 LIL’ DIPPERS: Tiny, 5 years & under* BIG DIPPERS: Mini, 8 years & under The Planet Cheer Lil’ Dippers & Big Dippers focus on the beginning techniques of cheerleading. Team members will learn body control, motion technique, beginner jumps, beginner dances and beginner stunt techniques. Team members will put their knowledge to 2 minute age-appropriate routine which they will compete in local, regional and 1 national competition throughout the competitive season. FUN is the main focus! Tumble Requirement: (1) 1-hour tumble class per week Cheer Practice: (1) 1 ½ hour practice per week TWILIGHTS: Youth Prep, 9 years & under* COMETS: 11 years & under The Planet Cheer Twilights & Comets are a Beginner/Intermediate team that performs high-flying stunting skills to a professionally choreographed routine. The dances, cheers and stunts are more difficult in this age group. The teams will be placed in the appropriate skill level according to the experience and work ethic of team members. Both teams will compete in local, regional and 1 national competition. Fun AND skill development is the main focus. Tumble Requirement: (1) 1-hour tumble class per week Cheer Practice: (2) 1 ½ hour practices per week STARLITES: Senior, 18 & under The Planet Cheer Starlites is a Senior Level 2 team. You are required to have a backhandspring to be considered for this team. This team will be made up of talented cheerleaders who are looking for less of a commitment, but still wish to have a competitive edge over the competition. The Starlites will compete in local, regional and up to 2 national competitions. Tumble Requirement: (1) 1-hour tumble class per week Cheer Practice: (1) 1 ½ hour practices per week ORBITZ: Junior, 14 years & under* NOVAS: Senior Open, 18 years & under The Planet Cheer Orbitz & Novas perform a fast-paced, high- energy routine for their competitive season. Each of these teams seeks out highly committed, dedicated cheerleaders who excel both in their tumbling classes and on the cheer floor. The Orbitz & Novas will compete in local, regional and up to 4 national competitions per competitive season. Tumble Requirement: (1) 1-hour tumble class per week Cheer Practice: (2) 2 hour practices per week ASTROS: Senior (try-out team) 18 years & under Planet Cheer Astros is an advanced cheer squad that performs the highest degree of tumbling and stunting of all the Planet Cheer teams. There is a separate try-out for this team with no age requirements. Cheerleaders who wish to try-out for the Astros must have a minimum of the following tumbling requirements: roundoff-tuck, roundoff-handspring-tuck, double whip toe-touch backhandspring (any tumbling skills performed over the minimum requirements will receive bonus points). Standing tucks are highly recommended for this team. Furthermore, cheerleaders will be asked to perform the following stunting skills in the try-out: prep double, arabesque double, and on the spot transitional stunting. Members of the Astros will be required to take 2 tumbling classes; one individual tumble class and one Team Tumble class for the perfection of synchronized tumbling. The Astros are a very serious, time-committed team and only the most dedicated and committed cheerleaders are asked to come out for this team. The Astros will compete in local, regional and up to 4 national competitions per season. Tumble Requirement: (2) 1-hour tumble classes per week (Individual & Team Tumble) Cheer Practice: (1) 3 hour practice & (1) 2 hour practice per week SUPER NOVAS: Collegiate Open, 18 yrs. & up The Planet Cheer Super Novas consists of former cheerleaders who have graduated from high school and want to continue competitive cheerleading! The Super Novas will perform collegiate level stunting, high-flying tosses and a high-energy, jam-packed routine in local, regional and national competitions. You must have cheering or tumbling experience to be considered for the Open Team. E-mail us for information Cheer Practice: Detailed calendar containing mandatory practice dates available soon. Practice will be Sunday evenings, 4:30-8:00. FULL MOONS: "Dad" Team That's right! Because real dads cheer ON the mat! This is a FUN exhibition team made up of Planet Cheer dads, uncles, brothers and even grandfathers! The Full Moons perform at 1 away competition and at local and regional competitions. Cheer Practice: Begins mid-season, Sundays from 3:00-5:00 *The staff at FFCC holds the right to combine teams based on numbers and skill of members for the 2008 competitive season. |
